Halloween Piccies

I am afraid to say that this halloween was quiet in our house due to my poor health but I still managed a bit of fun for the kiddies.  First up is a photo of my 12 year old son Brenden doing his best zombie school boy look.  And yes, you have guessed it...... he came in from school on Monday and said...."mum, can I go trick or treating with some friends?"  To which I replied with "of course just behave yourself".......  Then comes the best bit...... "um I don't have a costume and I am meeting them in 10 mins!!!!!"  Kids don't you just love them!!!   So out came the scissors, some calico and an old set off uniform along with some ruby food paste and some black cream eyeshadow!!  TADA!!!  One last minute zombie!!

Well once Brenden was out scaring my neighbours I recieved a visit from my beautiful niece, although this time she was well into character of a vampire!!  I had packed up the five scarey spooks trick or treat bag with loads of goodies and had cards for both her and my little nephew.  Well Arwyn wasn't impressed with this..... all she wanted was a trick!!!  I wasn't quite cruel enough to tell her she couldn't take them home with her!!  Here she is trying to make me cry!
She also decided that she really liked the wall plaque/ hanging I had made for Brenden!!  Good job he loves her to pieces isn't it!!!

Here is a picture of my gorgeous little nephew Gethyn, wearing his SBS onesie that I had made for him a while ago (along with a matching card) for a challenge here.  He wore this to his baby sensory halloween party along with cute spider slippers!!!

Well there you have it!!  Our quiet timid halloween this year.  The kids enjoyed it so that is all that matters, hopefully next year we will be back in the swing of things.  Here is a photo of last years shannanigans.....yes its a photo of a photo because the scanner has a few gremlins living in it at the moment!!!  As you can see by this we usually have plenty of fun, even when Arwyn doesn't want her photo taken!!!

BRING ON THE NEXT HALLOWEEN PARTY!!!

Simply Betty Stamps - 12 Days of Halloween part 2!

Well what an absolute nightmare of a week (or couple of weeks if I am honest) I have had!!  I was so geared up to complete all the challenges for the 12 days of Halloween over at Simply Betty Stamps.  But still at this point (7 hours before deadline) I still have 2 cards half finished left to do!!  Not only have we been having a few 'teenage' related issues with my son, it being half term and having my step son to stay, I have also been struck with some sort of bug that has had me backwards and forwards to the doctors like a yoyo!!  I have decided to give myself a break now and admitt that I just didn't have the umph to complete it all.  Under the circumstances (for once) I know this is the right choice!

Anyway I have completed 10 out of the 12 (and who knows I might well be back here in a couple of hours putting the final two entries in if my poor tummy holds out, temp doesn't go up anymore and I can stay awake!!).

You have already seen my first 3 entries in the previous post so I shall be showing  another 7 here so be warned!!

On the fourth day of halloween my true love gave to me......

4 Skeletons......

Ummmmmm, This is one of the unfinished ones and is sat in pieces on my craft desk!!

On the fifth day of halloween my true love gave to me......

5 Scary Spooks

Papers- Docrafts and Echo park
Image- Tickled Pink
Letting- Kandco

On the sixth day of halloween my true love gave to me.....

6 goblins gobbling

The inspiration for this project came from the wonderful film, The Labyrinth. One of my all time favourites.  I used a photo from the film of the labyrinth itself as the backgound paper.  The baby image is from Saturated Canary and I have coloured him in red and white stripes just the same as the baby in the film.   The image of the goblin is a pro marker sketch copied from a book that I own....."Good Fairies ...... Bad Fairies" by Brian Froud.   He designed the characters for the film and again I am a fan......(have been since the days of "Dark Crystal").

As for my goblin, I made him using fimo.  He has then been finished off with some acrylic paint and some cheesecloth.  I adore him and now I want to make more and more.  He is holding a sign with words from the film which say "Say the right words".  This is then followed up on the card with a second quote from the film, this time it reads "I wish the Goblin King would come and take you away.... right now"
And this is where the fun begins!!  I have really enjoyed this project and just wish the inspiration had come a lot sooner.....  I would've done a much better job!!

On the seveth day of Halloween my true love gave to me......

7 pumpkins glowing

Here I have used the gorgeous Pumpkin Mickey Hat Betty Digi (from SBS) and the Pumpkin Boarder from The Octopode. 1 + 6 =7!!
I have also used some green and black crackle beads, some glittery ribbon and the words are from Docrafts again.  Think this will be the card my neice recieves!!

On the eighth day of halloween my true love gave to me.....

8 monsters shrieking

Scarey spider image is from Rick St.Dennis and gorgeous girl is the Gabby digi from the Zander Zone collection at SBS.
Paper- Docrafts

on the ninth day of halloween my true love gave to me........

9 ghosts a booing

The image is "Danien Digi" from SBS and although I coloured everything with my promarkers I wanted him to look ghostly.  Once I finished colouring him I used a soft pastel and then some clear glitter to make him sparkle.  I then used 8 tiny ghosts from some halloween confetti to make up my number of 9.
Pepers- docrafts
lettering and fence di cut- from stash.

On the tenth day of halloween my true love gave to me....

10 gouls a groaning

Well this is the other card that is in pieces!!!  So no number 10 here!

On the eleventh day of halloween my true love gave to me......

11 casks a leaning

After much confusion, swearing (!!) and a little research thisa is what I ended up with.

If you look closely you will see that there are 10 containers in the picture that are coloured blue....that along with the real bottle full of blue gu make up the 11!

Images-  Alchamists chamber from MIC and WitchLizzie Digi from SBS

And so we come to the last one.

On the twelth day of halloween my true love gave to me.....

12 bats a flying

Image- MissBettyBurton digi from SBS
Background paper - Docrafts

Well there we are...... 12 days of halloween minus 2.  It doesn't look like the last 2 will be completed seeing as I fell asleep whilst writing this post!!

Right now to link everything!!

I hope you have enjoyed and I am sorry if you also fell asleep!!

Have a great halloween and dare I say bring on christmas?? lol!!

I am off to curl up in bed and feel sorry for myself .......

Simply Betty Stamps - 12 Days of Halloween

Halloween is just round the corner and I have to say it is one of my favourite times of the year.  So to celebrate the countdown the wonderful girls at Simply Betty Stamps have been doing a twist on the "12 days of Christmas" ditty.  For the 12 days leading up to Halloween a different challenge is being set.  Well it may look like I am a a bit behind, and I guess I may be, but I have numerous different projects all on the go at the same time.  I will be working on something and have bit of a block but then have an idea for something else.  I don't tend to plan very well!!!  I like everything out infront of me and I like to see what grows organically when I am working.  It may not be very productive but its how things work for me at the moment!!

So here we are at the beginning..........

On the first day of Halloween my true love gave to me.......
......an owl in a rotton oak tree

For this I used images from Tiddly Inks.
Coloured using various copics and pro markers.

NEXT........

On the second day of Halloween my true love gave to me.........
.......Two Trick or Treaters

This time the images are Fairy Nellie Digi and Skeleton Peter Digi, both from Simply Betty stamps.
I have also used the awesome Spooky House Digi from Make it Crafty.
Again I have coloured this with copics and promarkers.  I also used some batd from a halloween confetti pack and some black jewels to finish off.
close up x

and the finally one for now.....

.......on the third day of Halloween my true love gave to me......
.......Three Black Cats

The image is called Halloween Witches Cat from The Octopode Factory.
The paper is from Echo Park Papers.
The lettering is from K and Co.
I used thin jewellery wire to make the cats wiskers and a tiny christmas jingle bell for the collar.

I hope you like my first three entries, watch this space for more to come including ghosts and goblins!!

Back to work for me now!

Second stage of colouring snow

Hi folks!
Here I am with my second stage of my personal challenge of colouring snow.  As those of you who read my previous post will know, I was a guest designer with MIC for there latest challenge of colouring snow.  I have decided to take this a little further for my own personnal gain by following tutorials, trying different pens and techniques all in the hope to improve the look of snow on my projects.  I am being very strict at this stage and not allowing puff paint, glitter or glossy accents.  It is purely colouring work I am concentrating on.

Zoe from MIC has done a brilliant video over on Youtube for Colouring reds and snow and it is an absolute "must watch" for anyone needing a few pointers.  Plus you get to watch her colour which is a treat in itself!!  There are a number of tutorials avaliable on there and I am sure you will watch many more than one!!

After watching the tutorial my OH surprised me by coming home with a set of warm grey promarkers as I only had cool greys.....(in both promarkers and copics!!!).  Anyway I have used these to colour the snow in this picture and I can see a difference.  I used to think grey was just grey...... oh how wrong was I?  I decided to colour this whole picture with promarkers instead of my copics for a change.  It still needs a little work and of course to be turned into something worthwhile rather than just another coloured picture to add to the collection!!

I have used images from MIC's new "winter scene elements" and also Lil Victorian Christmas Lylah from Tickled Pink.

I hope you have found this post to be of some use and don't forget to get your entries for the challenge in over at MIC for the chance of winning some goodies.

See you next time xxxxx

Guest Designer for the MIC 'Colouring snow' challenge!

Ever had one of those days when your best laid plans get tossed out of the window and you end up flying by the seat of your pants??  This is my day today!!  But I am here now, maybe a little late but I am ready to make up for it!!

I still can't get over the fact that the wonderful DT girls at Make it Crafty asked little old me to join them as a guest designer for this challenge.  This is my VERY first time as a GD and to say I was beyond nervous is an understatment!  So please be gentle!  Joining me as a guest for this challenge is the very talented Kaylou of Kraftywheezle.  If you haven't already, check out her fab blog!!

I am using this colouring challenge as a personal test aswell.  Over the next 2 weeks I am going to be concentrating on colouring snow and will be sharing my progress on here.  I want to see if and how much I can improve on my ideas and techniques during this time.   Who's with me on this?

The challenge closes in approx 12 days time, there is a wonderful countdown clock in the challenge gallery to make sure your entries are in on time, so you have no excuse for not taking part!!!!!

Now down to my cards!!  First up we have 'Christmas is coming......'

Here I have used the really cute 'Jolly Santa' digital image and then teamed him up with the 'Festive Lantern' and the 'Gift Boxes' digis from the brand spanking new 'Festive elements' collection.  I have also used the 'Christmas Decorations' chippies to make the string of lights across the top of the card.  All of these can be found in the Make it Crafty Shop.
For my snow here I have used BG10, B00 and C1 copics.

My second card is 'Frosy the snowman'

For this card I used the beautiful 'Winter Ragamuffin' from Saturated Canary and again coloured her with copics. I also used the 'Frosty the snowman' verse from Magnolia. The papers are from DCWA.  This has all been finished off with small pearl dots, silver corners, baby blue stickles, glossy accents and more stunningly delicate snowflakes from MIC.

I hope you like my starting point and see where things go from here.  I am already working on more images that I have more confidence in so I am feeling quite positive about this.

Don't foget to check out the other DT members blogs and the Make it Crafty Gallery to see their amazing work and don't forget to enter!!  You never know you could be one of the lucky winners and who wouldn't want that??

See you all very soon with my next installment of  'Colouring snow'!!!

Halloween Black and Orange

Hello peeps.  Today I am showing you a halloween card I made using the grogous Lydia the living dead girl from Simply Betty Stamps.  I was lucky enough to win her in digi form and I have to say I love her!!!   I have used the Apothecary Emporium papers from Echo park to make this card.
The papers have been ripped and layered to create a background.  I spent a long time (!) cutting Lydia and her cat out with a craft knife and then used the fabulous pinflair glue to add some depth.  The sentiment is made up of individual letters from K&Co.  The card is then finished off with 3 crawling spider charms.

Saturated Canary- Gothica

Isn't this young lady just adorable??  She is available to purchase as a digi stamp from Saurated Canary's Etsy shop.  There are a collection of stunning images there to look through and every week a few more get added.... be prepared to want them all!
This is 'Gothica' and I fell for her as soon as I laid eyes on her.  I have coloured her using my ever faithfull copics and the papers are 'Summer Breeze' by First Edition.  I followed the sketch for the Saturated Canary- Sketch Challenge.

Haruka and Michiru..... don't you just love them!

Evening friends and followers! Just a really quick post tonight as the dreaded lurky is well and truely at large in our house and I can hear the bed calling!
For this card I have used another of the totally amazing images from Sureya at Deviant Art.  This one is haruka and michiru and I absolutly love it!!   I spent hours trying to do the image some sort of justice with the colouring and overall I am happy with it.  I finshed it off with some corrugated natural brown card and a sheet of dotted paper....(No idea where it came from.... it was in one of my many odds and sods tubs!) and  three  cerise candy drops.  The sentiment is from Polka doodles.

Tickled Pink Wizard Eric side stepper card.

Well look at this, my second post in as many days and I still have more to come!!!  The house is a tip and the boys are having to fend for themselves but I am very happy and content...... even if my head does want to explode!!

This is my second project for the Tickled Pink Challenge this week and again I have had fun ripping!  This time I decided to use the 'Core-dinations' paper.  I love the effect that this gives when you play around with it.  As you can see from the photo, not only have I ripped it but I have also embossed and sanded it aswell.  I thought this embossing folder was perfect for the look I was going for.  My chosen image this time was Lil Haunts Wizard Eric .  Again he is in digi form here, I just love the versatility of the them......plus I don't end up wearing as much ink as the stamp does!!

List of products used.

Tickled Pink 'Mummy' Halloween

Morning peeps..... Hope you are all having a great weekend now that Autumn is well and truely with us!  Didn't take long to get here did it?   I just wanted to show you what I had been upto whilst this colder weather has been coming in.  I decided to do something different for this weeks challenge over at Tickled Pink .  The theme is RIP something...... as in either rip or R.I.P.  So I decided to pretty much 'rip' everything!!!   I went back to my roots this time with using fabric.  Admittedly it is only muslin torn into bandages but it still felt great to be handly fabric again.   There was only one image I could use for my 'vision' and that was the fabulous 'Digi Lil Haunts Mummie Christina'.  I took inspiration for this wall hanging from my lack of organisation two years ago at Halloween.  You see, my son, Brenden, (then 10) came home from school and decided he wanted to go trick or treating with his cousin Arwyn...(adults were there too).  Being ten any costume thrown together last inute wasn't quite 'cool' enough.  Well this resulted in me ripping my plain cream duvet cover into bandages for him and wrapping him up as a mummy!...  He looked great, even though he was stuck in there till I decided to cut him out, which of course was after a major fit of giggles because he needed the toilet and couldn't go because I had wrapped him up so well!!!
I also chose to do this because Tickled Pink are doing a Guest Design Team call (finishing in a few days) and last week my mojo was a little lacking.  Last week I entered the 'First Christmas Card' (seen on this blog) and it was very C&S.  I wanted to show the other end of the spectrum this week and do something 'different'.  Last week I focused on the colouring and this week I leant more towards materials and placement.
Here is a list of what I have used.
Image- lil Mummie Christina
Fabric- plain light weight muslin ripped into bandages
Card- Ripped scrap cardboard, Ripped plain brown card from stash, random black die cut from stash
Papers- Echo Park, The Apothecary Emporium (ripped)
Gauze medical dressings
Copic markers
Distress inks-Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey
Paint- Dulux Nude Glow mixed with Coarse Brown Ballast (woodland sceneics)
Skulls- Tim holtz Grunge board painted with Picket Fence Crackle Paint
Thick gauge wire for hanging

First Christmas Card!!

Well it was about time I made a start really now wasn't it??  I decided to break myself in gently and keep it quite simple, just focasing in the gorgous image from Tickled Pink and colour.  This is the digital verson of 'Lil Victorian Steampunk Lolita Evie' and I thought she would look great coloured up like this.  I used the largest of my new nesties (Labels 4) and placed it so that the bottom edge of the dress wouldn't be cut off.  I like the contrast this gives. She is mounted on red and green card from my stash.    I also used a chipboard bookplate from Tando Creations and painted it green.... I then used a couple of my copic markers to give it some depth but unfortunatly that doesn't really show in the photo.    This is then finished off with 2 emerald colour brads, a simple sentiment and some red ribbon.
I now feel ready to tackle some more christmas cards and even a few gifts!!!

Take care and happy crafting xxxx

Purple Rain

Good evening peeps!  First things first......  How gorgous is this image?? She is called 'Let it Rain', one of the new releases over in Saturated Canary's Etsy Shop.   If you haven't seen them yet get yourself over there and be prepared to part with your cash because you won't be able to help it!
I was already aware of the challenge on Make it Colourful which this week is to colour with purple and another challenge from Charisma Cardz which is to make a card inspired by a song.  So when I saw this image it just jumped at me.....  I instantly thought of 'Purple Rain' by Prince.  Yeah its an oldie, but its still a goodie!!!  Purple is one of my favorite colours and seem to have coloured so much with it lately.  (I always seem to use more purple around Halloween anyway).  With such a beatuiful image I wanted to keep things quite simple.  So she is just mounted on purple card from my stash.  I have used a chipboard bookplate from Tando creations (coloured purple to match) with just a simple 'Miss you' stamp.  I used the same card to again with some white mesh (no idea what it is called, sorry!) for the underlying stripe.  I finished the card off with a couple of diamond crystal head pins from Create and Craft and 3 purple drops.

Kenny K- Vintage/ Grunge

This is my entry into Kenny K's- Vintage/ Grunge Challenge.  I just adore the new Steampunk/Burlesque digital stamps (and I have to say they are a huge hit with the boys in my house aswell....... although for the life of me I can't think why that would be!!).  They take some serious concentation when colouring but so worth it in the end.  For this challenege I decided to use 'Atlantea',  I wanted to give the metal work a 'coppery' feel but being limited on copic and promarker colours at the moment I ended up using a 'burnt orange' PM along with a blending pen to add a touch of highlight.  To be honest I am happier than I thought I would be with the 'coppery' colour.  I coupled this with a denim colour and black rubber to achieve the overall look.
I then did a google search for suitable images to go with her.  I knew what I wanted but I also knew that my drawing skills were not quite up to the challenge of what I was looking for.  I came across 'Steampunk Fish' by Vanessa Blair on Deviantart.  It was like this image had been plucked from my head and drawn just for what I wanted!!!  Even the colours matched.  I used a big chunky brad from 'Life's Journey' to use as the fish's big metalic eye.  The papers were from KandCo and I have distressed them with good old Walnut Stain distress ink.  The final touches are a gauze patch and a 'Journey' sticker.
Here is a closer look at the beautiful Atlantea.
Hope you enjoy.  Have a lovely weekend and happy crafting xxxx

Make it Crafty-'Look mum no lines' Challenge

Here is my entry for the 'look mum no lines' challenge over at Make it Crafty.  The photo doesn't really do it any justice but overall I am happy.  I have used the 'Mushroom House' digi stamp along with the new 'Sweet Devilina' from the Halloween section.  I used my good old copic markers for this and even had to include a couple of promarkers when I was low on colours.  There are more colours involved in this technique that you can believe...... far to many to list.  Anyway I hope you like note only the picture but the fact that this blog entry is really short!!!  Have a great weekend xxxxx

Books and Babies!!

Well first things first...... hello out there!!!  Hope you have all had a lovely week and been making the most of the end of the holidays, although I guess the children have already returned to school for some of you.  Brenden goes back on Wednesday and I have to say I can't wait!!!  I am looking forward to getting a routine back aswell as my crafting table and stash that seems more often than not to have a 12 year old boy rummaging though it!!!
Well last week was bit of a downer for me, even though I became an Auntie for the second time (but we shall come to that later).  As I have said before I suffer with Intercrainial Hypertension and for some reason just lately things have been getting steadily worse.....(it goes through phases with me).... I have been really limited in what I have been able to do not only because of the headaches but also my eye sight has been effected.  Just waiting on some test results again now.
ANYWAY....... the important bit!!!!  The card above is for the latest Tiddly Inks Challenge.  This time the theme was 'Reading Fun'.  I love books and will read anything! (another downside of having IH is my reading has been really limited lately).  I love the fact that anything is possible in a book and that we make the pictures for the story ourselves.  I would rather read the book than watch the movie, or at least have to read the book first.  This card is all about the freedom that reading gives and thats why I chose the wording 'Where will your next book take you?'.  I have included a bookmark with this card.  I have used the free open book image, the dream castle and 'Alison' all by Tiddly Inks.  I have used copics and distress inks to colour the images and papers.  I felt the plain corrugated card (that seems to be a major staple of mine at the moment)gave the right amount of texture needed to lift the image.  Luckily I have a lovely little paper warehouse less than 5 mins away from me who has always got plenty of this, and that is actually where I got the harlequin paper and the book brad.  These were part of a scrapbooking set including stickers and rub ons etc...... all with a witch /wizardy feel.  I have had it a while but have never found the right projects to use them on.

Now a quick note about my beautiful nephew.  His name is Gethyn and he is the younger brother to the gorgous Arwyn.  I just had to share this picture.....and for those of you that have read this blog before 'I just knew this baby was going to be a boy!!!'
How beautiful do they look???  Arwyn is so proud although she does keep forgetting his name!!!
See you all soon xxxx

Grounding the image. Part 2!!

And now for my second post of the day and my second entry into the Make it colourful -ground your subject challenge from the fantastic girls at Make it Crafty.
This has been a true labour of love over the past couple of days and on the whole I am really chuffed with it......(still need to figure out what to do with large areas of sky though).  I have used whimiscal log and pebblestone patch from Make it Crafty and the stunning Alice, Hatter and Cheshire Cat by Christina at SpeschStamps.  How gorgous are they??  I am a huge Alice in Wonderland fan so it really was just a matter of time before they made an appearance on here!! I have also tried the no lines technique with this but for some reason I couldn't get everything to lighten enough.  It was a case of if some were perfect others were to light or dark.  That is why some lines are visiable and some are not!!  I think a lot more practice on the computer is needed.  I have yet to turn this into a card or a project because I am just not to sure what to do with it!!!  I am loving building scenes with the digi stamps and just seeing where my imagination takes me.  It is so much more fun than being stuck at home unwell most of the time!!!.

Kenny K - Layers

Hello everyone.  I hope this finds you all well.
Here is my entry into the Kenny K - Layers Challenge.  I have used my recently purchased Jayne Jetpack digi stamp.  Isn't she saucy!!  She was definatly another one of those 'must have' images....... ummmmm.... like so many seem to be at the moment!!!!  I don't use yellow and green very often and wanted to push myself into doing something a little different for me.  Jayne is coloured using my copics and I have used a  selection of off cuts and die cuts from my stash.  The silver squares don't show up to well in the photo but they are infact small mirror tiles.  It is meant to add to the whole 'Does my bum look big in this?' situation.
Enjoy!!

Simply Betty Challenge - Anything Halloween

Good evening peeps!!  Here is my entry for the Simply Betty -Anything Halloween Challenge.  I decided to go for something cute and made a 'Baby's first Halloween' set.  The idea for this came from the fact that I am due to become an auntie for the second time any minute now!!  Although no one is 100% certain that is a boy coming we are all convinced it is, so that is why I chose to use 'Franken Jude'.... he is just gorgous!!    Along with him I used 'pumkins' that were a freebie from Make it Crafty and the Magnolia 'Castle Background'.  Everything is coloured with my ever faithful copics!
The baby vest was really an after thought but I do think my neice or nephew will look sweet in it.  I used Franken Jude and the pumkins again, coloured them and then printed them onto transfere paper so I could iron the image on to the vest.   I hope this is ok, I have read the angel policy and this wasn't mentioned.  I have purely done this for the challenge and as a gift for my sister once this baby gets here.  (If I have over stepped the mark, please except my sincere apologies and remove from the challenge...... this was never my intention).

I am really pleased with how this has turned out.
