That Craft Place Challenge - Alter it!

This fortnight it is the turn of our Kerry to be hosting the challenge, and we want you to

ALTER IT!

This can be anything from a notebook to
a canvas, I'm sure you all will have lots
of ideas, but to name a few to help -
change a notebook, add stamping to ribbon, use patterned paper
to cover a pencil or other items, use a toilet roll and make a pen
holder, change chipboard items i.e. flower then add to a card,
there are lots and lots and lots of different things you can do.
We are being sponsored by the amazing
Lisa at That Craft Place with
a voucher to spend in her shop :-)

Here is my altered notebook

I have used the latest products from Gorguss and lets face it...... they are exactly what is says on the tin!!
The image is a large stamp and you do need a big acrylic block to be able to get a good print but it is so worth it.   I fussy cut her out and then used the ever faithful pinflair glue to give her some dimension (not that this can be seen from the photos though!!)  The papers are also Gorguss, they are from the neutrals 8 x 8 pack.  The spine border has been cut using one of the new Spellbinders Shapeablities border dies.
The charms and metal embellishments are a seletion by Tim Holtz and Creative Expression.

So what are you going to alter??

Check out the Challenge Blog for more inspiration from the girls

Guest Designer for Alicia's little shop

Well I have no idea where my posts have been going but it would appear that they haven't been appearing on my blog!!

Anyway I have been asked to be a guest designer for Alicia's little shop this month.

Here are my first two cards.

Photographer

Alicia loves reading.

I have two more projects to bring you next week.
I am hoping to be feeling a hell of alot better than I have been!  As you all know my asthma is very severe and I also suffer with Intercranial Hypertension which causes me to have major headaches which leaves me unable to concentrate on anything for a few minutes at a time.  I am taking a high dosage of morphine at the moment to help this so I am either in crippling pain or high as a kite!!  Neither are very good for crafting!!   I hope you will all bear with me and I will be back to my old self soon enough...... well I better be!

See you next week xxxx

Make It Crafty- Voiding the Warranty with Hair Gel!

Well what can I say about this weeks in team challenge other than the fact that Forgotten Scraps is very lucky she lives a long way away!!  How she thinks of these ideas is beyond me.  For this project we had to use something in a different way to what it was meant for.  Well after spending many a sleepless night wondering what on earth I was going to do, I came up with using hair gel to make an underwater scene!  I saw this technique used last summer but never got round to playing with it.  Well here it is!
IMG_2970
I have loved these underwater images since they first came out.  I used one pre-made scene (https://www.makeitcrafty.com/underwater-mermaid-surprise-digi-stamp-scene.html) and one background Image (https://www.makeitcrafty.com/coral-border-digi-stamp.html) to make this up.   The card blank that I used had a double aperture ready cut in it but you can of course make your own using any die.
I coloured the scenes up using my copics.... far to many to list.
I used the background coral border  for the front on the card and cut the aperture out leaving the sand bed and corals overlapping into the hole and then lined up the mermaid so that she was clearly visible and centre.

IMG_2973
I kept the blue/green streaks of the water pale because the blue of the hair gel would be plenty dark enough to give the look of being underwater.
I used three tablespoons of hair gel inside a zip lock bag  to create the water.  I smoothed it out as best as I could to get rid of the large air bubbles ... you want to keep the small pockets of air as this adds to the overall effect.  Make sure the bag it closed tightly and there are no leakages.... the last thing you want is for the images to be covered in the gel!    This bag is then placed between the two apertures to create the screen.
And there we have it..... one hair gel / underwater card!

Magnolia Down Under Challenge DT Entry

I have decided to have a go at the DT slot for MDUC.....
you all know what a huge magnolia fan I am so I had some fun trying to do something a bit different to what I would usually do for my entry card.  Once again I changed my mind on what I was doing at the last minute and when I saw the challenge for this week over there was 'Masking' I thought I would push the boat out  and make a scene up.

Here is the result.

I have used 3 Tilda stamps, Tilda Decorate Easter, Tilda Watering and Tilda with Big Tulip.  I teamed them up with a garden shed stamp..... not sure where this is from as I bought it second hand!  Everything is coloured using copics and has just been finished off with minimal extras (fence, flowers, dragonflies etc).  I wanted the main focus to be the scene.

I hope they like it!!

Fingers crossed!

I would like to enter this into the following challenges.

That Craft Place - For a Child

Its time for another great challenge from

The theme this fortnight is

FOR A CHILD

For this challenge we are lucky enough to be sponsered by the gorgeous Krista from

I made a clock using Sabrinna, (Digital Image)

I started with a plain white canvas board and painted it using a purple and pink metallic acrylic paint and blended them together with a sponge applicator.

The clock face is middle sized chipboard clock from a pack of 3 by Tando Creative that Lisa stocks in store and I have decorated it using a mix of wine and shabby pink Stampendous embossing enamels.

(The clock hands were pinched from another clock making set!)

For the butterflies, I coated both sides of an A4 Sheet of card with Dylusions and Cosmic Shimmer sprays and then cut them using a Marianne die.

Sabrinna has been coloured with copics and then fussy cut and mounted using pin flair glue to add some dimension to her.

The heart embellishments are from an extensive range that the shop has, and to finish off I used a small length of the pink flowers on a roll.

I wanted there to be an element of dimension to the clock.  This was going to be for my niece but it is now Lisa is having it for the shop!!!!

Pop on over to the main challenge blog and see what the other girls have been up to....... all stunning AGAIN!!!

And don't forget to link your project up to be in with a chance of winning!
