SBS OLYMPICS - Familiar Throwing

Familiar Throwing you say?? Yes today's challenge is all about our special friends, our familiars; What's Yours? A Black Cat, White Owl, Slivering Snake, or a furry little rodent??  Whatever it is, it's time to start throwing them!!

For today's challenge we want your projects to feature a SBS image, and your familiar taking to the air!!

Here is my project.  Not 100% sure but then this isn't an easy one to do!!

Hope you like it anyway!!

I think Betty is just kissing her bat before she hurls him into the sky, trying for a personal best!!!

Just a bit of fun.

What can you do??

Quick Simple Male cards for MMCS

Today I thought I would do something a bit different and very simple just to show how a few items can make some male cards.
We all hate making them, so here are two ideas.

First up, I have used the Rock Pool Friends toppers by Kaisercraft and the matching Paper Pad

The second is the ships wheel die from the new set of sea charms from Die-namics.
The papers are from the Stella-di-mare A4 pad by Serafina.
These papers seem to be some of my favourites at the moment!!

Both of the sentiments are stamps from a set called So beachy by CC Designs.

I hope this has showed you just how easy it can be to whip up some cards.

Show us your stash!

Today, we are starting something new over at That Craft Place.

Every other week we are going to ask you to show us something.

This week its your pens!  We want to see what you use to colour all those wonderful images out there.

The DT team have posted photos of our pens and there is a linky for you to show us yours.

Here are my pens.

I store my complete collection of Pro markers in a super cheap wooden wine rack from the Range.  I also use this for my Flexi markers.

My Copic Ciaos are stored in the plastic containers that hold 72 pens.
I also have a 72 and a 24 pen copic wallet.  This is where I keep my Copic Sketch pens and any other extras.

Piling them up like this was the only way I could photograph them for you!!

I am saving showing you my pencils, inks, sprays and pan pastels to another day!!

So come on then....... your turn now!!!

SBS Olympics - Battling Broomsticks

Today's Olympic event is Battling Broomsticks.
Again, the same rules apply, use SBS images to interpret this however you want.
Whether it is racing or fencing or anything else you can image!

Here is my inspiration card.

I have printed Witchy Boo Betty out twice, coloured, cut and layered them at different heights, giving the illusion of one being closer to you than the other.  Good old Pinflair glue!!  I love the stuff!!!
The background is made using pan pastels and a piece of ripped paper to make a stencil.  Very simple but I do like how it has come out.

Don't forget full rules and more fabulous DT work can be found over on the challenge blog.

The lymerick is all my own work!!!  Yes it was about 1.30 in the morning when I finally came up with this!!

I did the back ground orange and black striped to match Rio's beach towel.

Don't forget to come back later for our next Olympic challenge aswell.
Full details can be found below in yesterdays post or on the main challenge blog again.

Please take time to join us.

SBS 100m Zombie Chase challenge

Welcome back for our first SBS olympic challenges.

Today's event is the 100 meter Zombie chase.
Hey I am sure even Usain Bolt would run faster with a zombie hot on his tail!!

Here is my inspiration for you.

I have used Zombie Christian, Track Alex and Marathon Betty.
Ok, so Zombie Christian may be cheating having a skateboard but are you going to tell him???  I wouldn't!!!

So the idea here is, using SBS images, show us your take on this theme.
All the rules and details can be found on the main Simply Challenged Challenges blog.

The bubble border is especially delicate.

I have also used a selection of copics.  Kitty now has a small collection of copic sketch pens in store!!

Here is my Steampunk inspired card.

The main image is the gorgeous Lavina Portrait from Simply B Stamps.  These steampunk stamps are going to be available from the store once they have made into the country from America.  You can contact Lisa to place your order and have one reserved for you when they arrive.  The other stamps from the collection are just as adorable and being on the SBS design team aswell, if you keep your eyes peeled you will be seeing a lot more of the stamps that the store will be stocking!!
The other elements of this card consist of  'Fancy key charms' by Creative Expressions. (available in store or on line).  These have been attached using Tim Holtz idea-ology split pins.
I have also used the Tic-Toc stamp from Kaisercraft and a Tim Holtz sentiment stamp that I have also embossed using Wow bronze embossing powders.
And of course the weathered clock face die from Tim Holtz again.  I think this is a must have in any crafters collection!!
The papers are a selection of papers from my stash.

Well I hope you like the card, and don't forget to see what the other girls have done......
They have well and truly rocked this challenge!

Can't wait to see what you do.

SCC- Anything goes!

It's time for a new challenge, and this one is dead easy, cos
Anything Goes!!
Yes, it's the 21st of the month, so it's our Anything Goes challenge, do whatever you like, just remember to use a SBS image on your project.

Things were made a little more difficult for the SCC DT, we  all have the same image to work with, the adorable Miss Betty Burton.  What better way to show the versatility of an image, than to get the whole DT to create with her.

Here is my card.

I wanted to keep things fairly simple because I love this image.
I have used the 'Florish' stamp by Kaisercraft which is a bargin at £2.99!!  The sentiment is from a pack by Whimsy Stamps.  It sums what what Betty and SBS mean to me.  How can you not be inspired by such fabulous images and great people.
I kept the colours to the classic black and white and then used my new favourite copic colour, Peony.
It is such a rich, lush, colour.  I used it to make the mounting layers and also used it to match up some seam binding.

I am also going to revisit a card I did a few months ago using this image along with Miss Rio Burton.

Betty is doing another amazing offer this weekend.

  • yeahhh.....here's the coupon! LOL

So why not stop by the shop and treat yourself..... hey if you are here in the UK the kids have now broken up from school and I am sure you need a little something to make the stress of having them at home all the time a little easier!!!

The gorgeous Rio of Mommy's little-crafter in crime is re- releasing the super gorgeous 'Rio's' digis.  Why not treat yourself to some of them to enter this challenge??
Remember anything goes as long as SBS are used there somewhere.
Anyway, why would you want to use anything else......

    SBS are the BEST!!

Check out the main challenge blog to see what my beautiful teamies have made for your inspiration.

Can't wait to see what you do!

    Hugs Trudie xx

SCC - Summer fun

This weeks challenge over at SCC is 'Summer Fun'.  You must use a SBS image to create a summery project.  There are so many great images and stamps the only trouble you will have is choosing one to use!

We were given images from the Funky Pirates collection to play with and I was lucky enough to get Bonnie.

I have teamed her up with 'Tropical Beach' from Make it Crafty.
What do you think she could be looking at through the spyglass???

I decided on a Nudist Beach!!
I used Tropical Travelogue papers from Graphic 45 along with a Tim Holtz vial filled with sand and a collection of sea shells.

Full details and the linky can be found over on the main challenge blog.  Lets see what lovely summery creations you can come up with.

(Sorry this is really brief.... very unwell right now!)

Hexagons at My Mum's Craft Shop

Hello peeps.   I am well behind today..... I had to have injections for my asthma again today and since getting home from the hospital I have been sound asleep.... its a side effect of the drugs.  But I am here now, all be it in bit of a fuzzy mess but its way past time to show you what I have been up to.

This week I have used one of my new dies.  Its the hexagons from die-namics.

Die-namics Hexagons
I have used these with my favourite papers of the moment.  They are the stella-del-mare collection from Serafina.

I made a simple 'thanks' card.  I say simple.... its very straight forward but it does take a bit of time.

I finished this off with one of the co-ordinating stickers.

I also then went on to make a coaster,

I started this by deciding on the patter I wanted and then cut all the pieces out.

I built the pattern up on the plain pink paper trying to keep an even gap between each hexagon.  (not as easy as it sounds!!)  Once the paper was covered and dried I glued it to the MDF coaster...... setting it slightly 'squew- wiff'' to add interest!
I also covered the edges with paper making sure everything was stuck down really well.

As for finishing off...... I am going to coat it with either glossy accents or some sort of PVA/ varnish mixture. I want to be able to use it and have the papers protected at the same time.   My glossy accents have gone very 'yellowy' where I have had the bottle so long and therefore didn't want to spoil this by covering it in that.

I used Die-namics stacking ovals and wave dies.  Sentiment was from my stash and dusted with turquise pan pastel...(as were the edges of everything).  I also 'Fussy Cut' a couple of fish from one of the papers and used pin flair glue to give them some dimension.

I hope you like the card and you feel inspired to give the challenge a go..... after all.... it can be ANYTHING you have made as long as it is new!!!!

Simply Challenged Challenges - Light and Dark

This weeks challenge has been chosen by our lovely Suzi and she wants to see how you can use light and dark colours.

Choose an SBS image...... (ok that could be hard.... there are so many great images to choose between!), use it twice in your project ..... once for light and the other for dark.

You can see all the DT examples over on the challenge blog, including Suzi's own take on the theme.

Here is mine.

Mr Todd's light side

Mr Todd's dark side

Having a teenage son I felt that this project was very apt!!!
It now hangs on his bedroom door so we at least have some warning as to the mood that awaits us inside!!!!!!!

Day 4- Olympians with a twist

Well first things first....... Happy 4th July to all my gorgeous American buddies!!
You know how much I love you all even though you drive me insane..... ah Corinne??? lol!!

So we are here to preview our next Olympian........ OK, so this sport isn't officially in the Olympics, but it is July 4th and lets face it, Roller derby is typically American, so why not have a gorgeous girl showing her skills??

And here she is

Roller Derby Wednesday

Being a fan of Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore in 'Whip it', I had to colour her in green and black!!

Well I hope you like our Wednesday ....... I think she is awesome!!

Still more to come!!

See you tomorrow for the next athlete!

Day 3 - SBS Olympians...... Gymnast Sally

Today we are showcasing Gymnast Sally......

Isn't she gorgeous??

I have to say the Gymnastics is one of my favorite events in the Olympics and I can'y wait for the rhythmic sections.  I used to do gymnastics as a child and so did Brenden so this is something we will definitely be curling up on the sofa to watch together.

I have to say, when I saw this image it did remind me of one of the funniest / strangest things I had seen in a long while!!  We are huge fans of the comedy sports panel show "A League of Their Own" in this house.  A while ago one of the team challenges was rhythmic gymnastics...... for those of you familiar with the show will know that the host..... the one and only James Corden..... had to perform a routine with the ribbon.

This is so worth a watch!!!!

Tomorrow we are back with another girl...... but this time there is a twist!!!

Don't forget to check out the other DT girls and let me know what you think xxxx

SBS Olympians Day 2

Welcome to day 2 of our Olympians previews....

Today we bring you Diver Judy.

Once again I have made her British..... why on earth would I be making stuff with Americans on when we are competing against them??

This is a big on going joke between the DT girls!!

Anyway here she is.....

I made a spinner card with her so that she can do as many somersaults as is deemed necessary for the best score!!!

I hope you like her and will be cheering on the UK when the Olympics start!!

Did you enjoy yesterdays Blog Hop??  Don't forget to leave messages for all of us ...... you never know what you might win!!
See you tomorrow for another preview....... any guesses as to what sport is next??
