Opps! I forgot the anniversary!

Ok so this isn't entirely true.... I remembered it was our friends anniversary, I just forgot about posting the card here to show you!

I made this for a very special couple..... this image suits them perfectly!!

I kept it very simple to just let the characters themselves do the talking!

The image is Flirty seniors from Make it Crafty.

My favourite copic colours for skin tones are E50, E51, E53 and then I use a tiny bit of E13 for the darkest areas.  I keep trying new combinations but find I come back to these most times!!

The blues of the old man's shirt (Martin!) are another of my favourite combinations.  I use these whenever I want a denim look to fabric.  B93, B95, B97 and B99.

For the knitting I used RV63, RV66 and RV69.  These are new colours to my collection and this is the first time I have used them..... I am sure they will be used a fair bit in the future!!

I finished this card off with sentiment stamps from Polka Doodles and a heart chippie from one of the MIC chippie parks.

That Craft Place Challenge - Dies and Punches

It's time for our fortnightly challenge at That Craft Place

This time its all about dies and punches

For once I decided not to include a coloured image in my project!  To say I was a little scared of how it would work was an understatement..... I always colour!

The papers I used are all from 'Natures Garden' by Prima.

I used the following dies

Tim Holtz Tattered Florals
Spellbinders Shapeabilities border
Spellbinders elegant frames 8
The heart doily and butterflies were already cut.

I hope you like my card.... its a little different from the norm for me!

Oh dear a new obsession!!!

Today I received what I am calling, PEN PORN!!!

This is just part of a nice big 'craft porn' stash that I got from That Craft Place.

Well what can I say, I am in love!  Really i am a die hard copic fan and don't usually like the bullet nib but these are gorgeous.  They blend lovely.

Here is my VERY FIRST colouring with them.

I am limited with my colours and this is done purely with the Graph'it markers.

Think I need more and SOON!!!

I shall be using these a lot!

MAYZY MAY BLOG HOP!

I was lucky enough to be asked to join in with the Mayzy May blog hop!

" I'M "

First of all, here is a complete list of all the talent DT members and their guests for you to hop through

The idea was to show off our favourite MayzyArt image..... well I am sure you all know I am bit of a steampunk freak so I just had to choose Meri.

I made a wallet for this tag out of Kraft card and covered it in papers from the 'Linen and Lace' stack by DCWV.  The tag its self is one of the large prima tags covered and decorated with the same papers.  I used distress inks to 'dirty' up the edges and a mask to create the gears down the side of the tag.  I finished the wallet off with making eyelets and lacing it together with ribbon to mimic the lacing on Meri's bodice.  The metal plate is from Tim Holtz and the word is part of a word collection from Darkroom Door.

Meri is of course coloured with copics!

I hope you like what I have made and now its time to hop on over to  Lisa.

Don't forget to be collecting the phrase!!!!

Thanks for joining us

Movie Magic Monthly - Star wars v Star Trek

Its time for the battle of the geeks!!!

Our Challenge theme this month is:

STAR WARS VS STAR TREK

We challenge you to create a project based on any of the films in these two awesome sagas.  You can take part as many times as you like, so if you can't decide between the films, you can make one for each saga.  Your project can take whatever form you like, all we ask is that it's a new creation.

I chose Star Wars..... living with my OH I didn't really have much choice!!
Even he created his own project!!  And to be honest, it puts everything I do to shame!!  Its a good job I love him.  You can see what he made at the bottom of the post!!

First we have a baby Onesie!

Jedi in Training!

This is a Saturated Canary image printed onto transfer paper and then ironed onto the onesie, not the best of surfaces to colour on but cute all the same!!!

This image is from Mayzy Art and the background paper I created myself whilst playing with my brand new Gelli Plate!!

And finally Graham's master piece!!

How fabulous is this??  Its a full size Darth Vader Helmet!!  This is called 'Pepakura' and its how the cosplay costumes are made..... this now needs to be resined and fiber glassed.  He spent many an hour swearing at this!!  Not to mention how many tubes of superglue and finger tips he lost in the process!!!

I hope you feel inspired to have a go at entering something!

All details can be found on the blog.

New Cute Girls from Make It Crafty.

The new images from Make It Crafty are just adorable and are designed to help you practice your colouring skills.  We each got to colour one up for this picture aswell!  I coloured the super cute Mia and you will see a project with her shortly but first off I want to show you what I did with Catrina.

I merged her with the Tulip Garden to create a little scene.  After colouring her up I asked the girls what they thought I should do for the sky, Zoe suggested I follow the brilliant cloud tutorial by Barbara.  Its so easy to follow!!  I think I need a bit more practice but my B00 and B000 decided to run out as I was doing this.....  yeap 2 more things added to my must have list again!!!

The papers I used are from Kaisercraft and are called Botanical Odyssey.... one of my favourite paper pads at the moment!

She was a dream to colour and I have a feeling she will be seen alot on this blog!!

Somewhere over the rainbow!

Today I have been colouring just for fun!  No DT project or anything!

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to win a Mayzy Art facebook quiz and got to choose an image from the store to play with.  I chose Nimbus the Angel because a) she is adorable and b) she can be used in many different ways.

Here I have coloured her up as a rainbow fairy!

I combined her with the Make it Crafty digital background,Rainbow Meadow.  I find this background to be a very useful 'staple' to have in my files and use it often.

I made an easel card with these images.  The papers and co-ordinating stickers are Sunny Days by Echo Park,  I think they are perfect for this!  I finished it off with a length of  rainbow fringing that I have had in my stash for ages!!  I now know it has been waiting for this card!!!

The challenge over at Mayzy Art is 'Rainbow'....... I guess this fits the challenge!

Make It Crafty Magician Slider Tutorial

A few weeks ago, over at Make it Crafty, Zoe released these fabulous
Entertainers stamps (available in digi and rubber!)

This Magician reminded me of a trick I saw when I was a child that always impressed me.... of course now I know how its done and it is really easy but in the mind of a child it really is pure magic!

I knew I wanted to make something like this to impress my niece and nephew!

Here is how it is done!

You will need.

2 sheets of coloured card (I have used red)
2 sheets of white card
1 sheet of  Printable Acetate
Embellishments (I used a die cut stars in different colours)
Card off cut
Colouring medium (I used copics)
Double sided tape
Pinflair glue (of similar)
Paper trimmer
Metal ruler and craft knife

Step 1

Decide on the size you want you image , centre on page and print on one sheet of white card and on the printable acetate.  It is vital these images are printed in the same position on both sheets so that they line up perfectly.  Colour the image add extra images/words if desired to the CARD ONLY!

Step 2

Line the acetate print up perfectly with the coloured image and glue along the top edge ONLY!
I used pinflair glue for this as it gives you a chance to wiggle the images around so you can get them so it looks like there is just one sheet rather than two.    It makes mistakes less likely!
Put to one side to dry.

Step 3

Take your remaining white and both coloured sheets and make a sandwich. Cut a 'window' in the front sheet. Use the double sided tape to stick both sides and the bottom of all three sheets together.  Using tape for this helps give a clean line to make the 'sliding' easier and smoother.  Set to one side.

Step 4

Once the glue has dried on the image, trim 1.5 cm off of both sides and the bottom.  This may need to be altered depending on how wide your double sided tape is.

Step 5

Now to create the 'handle'.
Using your off cut of card, stick it to the acetate just enough to cover the original glue line, and decorate.
I used the stars because it fitted the theme and the uneven edge helps to break up the harsh lines.

See how this just looks like one image layer when it is infact two, card covered with acetate!

Step 6

Now its time to make the magic happen!!

Slide in your pictures!  The coloured image goes inbetween the back of the folder and the plain white card.  The acetate goes between the middle and the front with the window....... the plain white card creates a divider!   You should now only see the black and white version.  Decorate the front!

As you pull the 'handle' the two images will meet and it will appear that the colour has been magically coloured!

TADA!!!!!

I hope this is easy to follow and any questions or comments please feel free to say!

Have fun and I hope the children love it

xx
